Saber Interactive & Focus Home officially reveal that World War Z’s Game Of The Year Edition arrives this May.
World War Z, the hit co-op third-person shooter is currently in development for Nintendo Switch. However, it now seems that the game is officially now getting a Game of the Year edition. Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive took to their various social media accounts to announce the news. The edition will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC starting May 5th. The GOTY package includes the full base game, a new location with three new missions. And all upcoming and existing content included in the Season Pass.
For those unfamiliar with the game, World War Z is, it’s a co-op shooter based on the popular movie franchise. As a member of one of four survivors, you must arm yourself and fight against hordes of zombies in the quest to escape infested cities. With many classes and an arsenal of weapons, you’ll become an effective zombie killer and fight for humanity. There’s also the recently added Horde Mode Z, a wave-based mode for those who want to shake things up.
What will World War Z GOTY Edition include?
The bonus content coming with World War Z GOTY Edition includes an entirely new episode located in France. You’ll travel across the city of Marseille in three new maps, following the story of four new characters on their way out of the city with three new missions to tackle. As you may expect this edition of the game will also include all of the content from the season pass, both past and upcoming. The content is listed below:
- New Episode! 3 new PvE missions in the French city of Marseille with its own maps, story and characters.
- Weapon Packs! The Lobo Weapon Pack, Biohazard Weapon Pack, Special Operations Forces Weapon Pack, new Last Aid Weapon Pack, plus 1 new upcoming weapon pack.

You can also check out gameplay footage from the upcoming Marseille missions below.
On top of this, purchasing the GOTY Edition grants you access to a year’s worth of free content added to World War Z since it launched. This includes the wave-based Horde Mode Z, Xbox One-PC cross-play, new PvE missions and enemies. As well as a weekly challenge mode, extreme six-skulls difficulty setting, and more. Finally, a new playable class “with a unique skill tree and abilities” will be coming via a free update later in 2020. Along with other content in the future.
When can we expect the game’s Switch port?
As earlier mentioned, Saber Interactive also has Switch port in the works according to a report by IGN. However, there’s no word yet on whether it will include the aforementioned GOTY content. And it’s currently without a release date. It seems getting the game to run smoothly on the handheld console is proving to be a challenge for the developer. Matt Karch, the CEO of Saber Interactive, told IGN to “keep in mind that we are rendering scenes with hundreds of enemies and four players online… Getting this to run on the Switch is the hardest thing that we have had to do – this is true even though we are porting our own [Swarm] engine over to the platform.”
World War Z GOTY Edition launches on May 5th for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It will be available for $44.99 on the Epic Games Store along with $49.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
