Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a modern puzzle-platform adventure game. The setting is in a world beyond the forest of Nibel. There Ori uncovers the truths of the lost ones and disinter its own true destiny. The game opens up to the players in a Metroid-Vania fashion. Thus allowing them to move between platforms and solving different puzzles.
Players take control of Ori – the Wisp. A white guardian spirit, on a journey to unveil the truth regarding its fate. Players shall navigate through diverse scenarios completing numerous puzzles. Each one of them having varying difficulties as you progress along the game.
Unlike the previous instalment, Ori and the Blind Forest, Will of the Wisps relies more on AutoSaving rather than players placing soul links manually in order to save the game. A shard system will introduce something similar to charms in Hollow Knight. Will of the Wisps features new movement abilities that let players traverse through inaccessible areas. The development team has incorporated some foundational gameplay elements from different Metroid franchises and the Rayman series.
New trailers of the game predict new features including new stages, lands, non-players characters (NPCs), bosses, and combat & movement abilities. One of the trailer also depicts Ori traversing through different stages with a young owl.
