Nintendo to air Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct today detailing it’s Nook Inc.’s Deserted Island Getaway Package
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will bring Nintendo’s franchise to the Switch in March. And one month ahead of the game’s release Nintendo will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct episode on February 20th at 9 AM ET (tomorrow) revealing new, “in-depth” details about Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch. It will be a 25-minute livestream. And will give us a look at the “Nook Inc.’s Deserted Island Getaway Package!” that makes up the backbone of the new game.
For those unfamiliar, this installment in the popular Animal Crossing series takes things out of the typical village. And sends players on an island vacation planned by Tom Nook’s new travel agency. Players get their own private island resort, where you can customize your own outdoor living space and collect resources to craft all kinds of items. The Nintendo Switch sequel will add brand-new customization options and support for up to eight players in local and online multiplayer. Players have been waiting for years to see a new console entry in the series, and it’s now almost here.
This will be the third Nintendo Direct of the year. So far but all of them have been dedicated to specific games. The last Direct-style presentation was the January 9, 2020 Pokemon Direct. Which revealed the Pokemon Sword and Shield expansion pass and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon remake. The stream will ensure a pretty comprehensive rundown of the game. And perhaps an explanation of what its in-game purchases are about. New Horizons was going to be out last Christmas. But now has a delay until 20 March. Despite that, very little has been seen of it until now. So it may have a few more surprises in store for us.
Which other new games will Nintendo release this year?
In regards to what other new games we can expect from Nintendo. We still haven’t had a Direct stream about the Switch general. The only other Nintendo title scheduled at the moment being remade is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX on 6 March. All we can be sure of is that Nintendo will not be releasing any new hardware this year.
The new Nintendo Direct presentation will broadcast on Thursday, Feb 20th at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT on its YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook channels. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 20. Nintendo will also be releasing a special Animal Crossing-themed edition of the Nintendo Switch on March 13. It’s available for pre-order now.
