LPL reveals online scrims league this February

The LPL season has been severely affected by the coronavirus, so it will now host an online scrims league.

There have been number of delays on 2020 LPL season in the recent weeks due to coronavirus outbreak in the Chinese region. However, LPL has recently revealed that they would host another league in the coming weeks. The organisation told the League of Legends community that there was going to be an online scrims league on 26 February.

2020 LPL season had been delayed after many growing concerns about the coronavirus threat in the region. The virus threatened the health and safety of the players and staff members in league teams. After a while, LPL decided to put the event on hold to make sure of the health and safety of everyone participating the event. Since the organisation’s decision, the League of Legends community has been waiting for news about the 2020 LPL season. However, LPL has finally made an announcement regarding the league season. Although it seems that the organisation decided to put forward an online league, hinting that the LPL season might be delayed even longer.

In today’s announcement, LPL told the league community that “an online scrims league” would begin this February, in six days. The organisation also told that they are still concerned about the safety of every participant.

Some of the teams have already announced that they would join the online scrims league. These includes JD Gaming, Suning Gaming, Victory Five, eStar, and Top Esports. The online matches will also be live streams on Twitch. However, LPL also told that the online league wasn’t going to affect the official LPL scoreboard.

2020 LPL season

There has been no information about when the official LPL season might return. Coronavirus threat in the region has been affecting a lot of esports matches in the Chinese region. There is also the Mid-Season Invitational tournament in the following months. This means that the Chinese League of Legends teams can take a huge hit in the international stage if they can’t participate in this year’s LPL season.
