Hazel Sky is coming to PC and consoles in 2020

Developer Coffee Addict recently revealed Hazel Sky is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC next year.

Publisher Another Indie and developer Coffee Addict Game Studio have announced Hazel Sky, a “heartfelt adventure” game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam sometime in 2020. While the developer and publisher have yet to unveil a solid release date, Hazel Sky’s announcement does come with an intriguing reveal trailer giving us a glimpse into the game’s colourful world.

What’s Hazel Sky’s synopsis?

The official website describes Hazel Sky as a tale of romance, ambition, and technological breakthroughs. In Hazel Sky players are put in the shoes of an engineer who is taking his test to join the ranks of the other engineers. This is no simple test and this no simple world either. Failure means banishment from the society of engineers so Shane, the main character, has a lot riding on this. He is sent to the island of Gideon a flying city where engineers in his world venture to take trials in order to formally assume their desired role.

What’s the gameplay like?

During gameplay, in order to past the trials, Shane will need to fix various machines and explore the world. However, the process is more grueling than some written exams. Such efforts won’t be for naught, as Shane will get to fly them. In traversing the trials, players will also uncover the fates of other trainees who traveled a similar path. Moreover, those who choose to explore the gorgeous world are bound to unearth insights about Gideon’s people.

Check out the game’s key features below:

  • Repair and build an assortment of incredibly flying machines.
  • Jump, climb, swing, and slide your way through the trials.
  • Discover the fates of those who faced the trials before you. And those who failed.
  • Take to the skies in ramshackle flying machines.
  • Find peace and tranquility in the gorgeous world.
  • Explore and find hidden truths and fascinating insights into the people of Gideon.

Moreover, during his trials, Shane will connect via radio with a fellow engineer in training, Erin. Before long, the two will begin an “illicit friendship” that ultimately alters the way Shane sees the world. With Hazel Sky’s trials and an unexpected romance, Coffee Addict Studio aims to weave a bittersweet love story, additionally complicated by a young man’s ambition and a society “on the brink of something new.” In Hazel Sky, it’s the engineers versus the artists, the left-brainers against the right-brainers. But, the engineers are described as “honored,” while the artists are called “reviled.” The game is based on a society that’s very much governed by science.

Based on the trailer, there’s an unmistakable adventuring quality to Hazel Sky. From the Ziplining, rope-swinging, dangerous rock-sliding — it’s all quite reminiscent of Uncharted, especially considering how Shane’s out to uncover the city’s mysterious roots. It truly looks like it could be a thrilling indie adventure.

Hazel Sky will release this year for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
