Developer Inti Creates announces Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is officially coming to PC via Steam this June 22nd, 2020.
Almost four years after its initial release, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 will finally release on PC after its appearances on the 3DS, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. Developer Inti Creates has announced that it will come to Steam on June 22. Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is also available as part of the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack, which includes both titles and available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, with a physical release on PS4 incoming.
For those unfamiliar, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is the sequel to the title that started the franchise on Nintendo 3DS. The game continues the story of Gunvolt as he aims to clean up the remaining members of the Sumeragi Group. It is a 2D indie title that features action gameplay, platforming, and horizontal scrolling. During the adventure you will be able to control Gunvolt and defeat enemy robots.
You can check out the game’s key features below:
- Prevasion – This ability allows Gunvolt to neutralize enemy attacks at the cost of his EP energy. Copen also has an ability exactly like this.
- Kudos – Kudos is a point system that increases whenever you deal damage to an enemy. Whenever you take damage, your Kudos are reduced to zero. When activating a save point, using a special skill or clearing a mission, Kudos are converted into bonus points.
- The Muse’s Song – For as long as you can maintain 1000 or more Kudos, the BGM will change and Lumen AKA The Muse (or in Copen’s story, Lola) will sing for you!
- Anthem – When Gunvolt or Copen’s HP reaches 0, the Muse’s power can bring them back to life, with additional power-ups. In that state, the BGM will change to the Muse’s song.
What game features can we expect?
The game also introduces players to a new playable character, Copen. Who had previously been the rival of the protagonist in the first game. As Copen, slam into enemies to lock on to them, then unleash a flurry of devastating homing shots to obliterate foes. Copen can also take to the skies using his “Bullit Dash” for extra mobility, and copy the abilities of defeated bosses to expand his arsenal. Each character has a different objective and playstyle that adds variety to the game’s campaign.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is in two different campaigns, Gunvolt and Copen. Players will race through levels and collect Kudos as they hit enemies. These Kudos are then converted into bonus points at the end of a level. If you gain more than 1000 Kudos, the background music will change, and Lumen, The Muse or Lola, will sing and cheer you on. Additionally, these powerful songs can also bring Gunvolt and Copen back to life with additional power-ups.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, and June 22nd on Windows PC. Make sure to check out Azure Striker Gunvolt 2‘s new Steam page for more details.
